DRHBA President

STEPHEN SNIDER IS NEW PRESIDENT OF DURHAM REGION HOME BUILDERS’ ASSOCIATION

Stephen Snider of Steve Snider Construction is the new President of the Durham Region Home Builders’ Association (DRHBA).

“It is a great honour to serve as the 58th President of the Durham Region Home Builders’ Association,” said Stephen Snider at the President’s Gala on Nov. 19th at Tosca Banquet Centre in Oshawa.  “I am grateful to the Board, the Executive and to our membership for their confidence in me to lead our Association through the next year.”

Stephen is the principal of Steve Snider Construction, founded in 1980. The company has been a member of the Durham Region Home Builders’ Association (DRHBA) since 2003 and Stephen served on the Board of Directors in various capacities and most recently as its 1st Vice President.

The new President will continue to ‘grow’ the Association in numbers and in vision, while at the same time continue to work with government and industry partners on issues affecting the home building industry and our communities here in Durham.

As a builder and renovator, Snider takes great pride in his craftsmanship. “For me, nothing is more fulfilling than taking a piece of paper with a bunch of lines on it and turning it into what I consider a work of art,” he says. “I am charged with creating someone’s dream home either through a new build or a renovation, and I try to keep that as my focus. When faced with a decision on a job site, I often take a step back and ask myself, if this was my house, what would I want?”

Steve Snider Construction Inc. has been serving the Port Perry / Durham area for over 30 years. With an outstanding, experienced team of carpenters and trades people, Steve Snider Construction Inc. excels as a builder of quality custom homes.  As a licensed carpenter, Stephen started his construction business in 1980 and has been a licensed R2000 builder since 1986. Incorporating the R2000 building technology into his residential construction has been his main focus and it continues to guide his organization’s building practices today.

In the 1990′s Stephen made a commitment to build R2000 homes exclusively, citing energy savings and improved indoor air quality as his goal. His state-of-the-art building technology was well received by informed consumers looking for long term energy savings and healthy homes. As a result of this commitment and his vast knowledge and experience in the industry, Stephen is a sought out builder and consultant, with clients province wide.

In 2000, Stephen purchased a 19 lot cul-de-sac in Port Perry with a view to creating the first R2000 exclusive development in Durham Region. In 2001, Steve Snider Construction Inc.  was the recipient of the EnerQuality R-2000 Award for Technical Excellence in the over 4,000 square foot home category. Other notable awards include the CMHC Healthy Housing Award; DRHBA Green Award; DRHBA Excellence in Single Family Dwelling 2400-3400 sq. ft.; and consecutive EnerQuality R-2000 Technical Excellence Awards to name just a few. In January 2006, Steve Snider Construction Inc. was honoured nationally for constructing the most energy-efficient house in Canada.
